About

Welcome to The Date Lab

Dating doesn’t have to be stressful, scary, or confusing — at least not all the time. Remember that feeling when you’re trying to text someone for the first time, and you overthink every word, debating between a casual "hey" and a witty one-liner? That’s where most of us start.

My Journey

I remember my first online dating experience in the late 2000s. I didn't know where to start, so I played it safe by filling out an OkCupid profile to make penpals (yes, that was a real option back then). Over time, I realized how much there was to learn and enjoy — like the art of crafting a profile that feels authentic, mastering the balance of playful banter and thoughtful conversation, and discovering the joy of meeting someone new with curiosity rather than pressure.

I’ve been navigating the world of online dating since the early days, starting with OkCupid when it was one of the few accessible options for making different kinds of connections (friends, dating, long-term partnerships, etc.) outside of match.com or eHarmony. Fast forward to today, and there’s an app catering to nearly every dating style and preference, ranging from the rapid swiping of Tinder to the in-depth, algorithm-based compatibility matching of eHarmony. While the variety of apps offers convenience, it can also leave people feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices.

Why I Created The Date Lab

My deep interest in relationships, psychology, and communication has fueled my passion for helping others approach dating with confidence and clarity. Having spent countless hours navigating profiles, conversations, and first dates, I’ve learned what works, what doesn’t, and how to guide others through this often overwhelming process. For example, I’ve discovered that starting with a light-hearted, specific question — like asking about someone’s favorite childhood memory — often leads to more engaging conversations than generic openers.

As a product manager by trade, I’ve spent years breaking down complex problems into manageable parts, and I bring that same skill to The Date Lab. This isn’t just another dating resource — it’s a welcoming community where you can learn, ask questions, share stories, and feel genuinely supported. Whether you’re here for step-by-step guides, templates for starting meaningful conversations, or personalized coaching, there’s something for everyone.

Start Small

I understand that reaching out for help with dating can feel intimidating, especially if you’re skeptical about coaching. That’s why I invite you to start small — read a blog post, attend a free event, or send me a question. Dating can be tough, but you don’t have to go it alone. My vision is to help people form meaningful connections, one conversation at a time.
